Roy Blakey is a qualified myotherapist having completed an Advanced Diploma in Myotherapy at Melbourne Institute of Massage Therapy, is a current member of Myotherapist Association Australia and registered as a service provider with all the major health funds. Roy has also studied towards a bachelor degree in Health Science (Clinical Myotherapy) at Southern Schools of Natural Therapies.
Roy has also completed courses in mobilisation and exercise prescription. Professional development courses undertaken by Roy include, membership to the Stuart Hinds Academy - (Inner Circle Member), Lumbar Spine/Sacro-Iliac Joints (SIJ)/Hip Joint Dysfunction (Jon Snowsill), Advanced dry Needling (Nathan Ulph), Treating Hip Pain & Dysfunction using NAT Protocol and Treating Frozen Shoulder using NAT Protocol (Stuart Hinds), participating in webinars by Advanced Clinical Education for Communication as Medicine, High Risk Areas for Dry Needling, Hip Pain, Knee Pain, Low Back Pain, Lower leg Pain, Shoulder Pain, TMJ Dysfunction and Trigger Points. Roy has also participated in webinars by Migraine & Headache Australia.
In December 2018 Roy undertook volunteer work in Cambodia as a myotherapist team member of The Remedy, under the leadership of Rotana Cheng. The team treated local community members at a rural clinic in conjunction with the charity One on One medical team.
